Who can see what you enter

The anchor guide to visibility: who sees your answers, what can be shared, and what stays private.

Written by Tim Lea

Short answer: Everyone on your team can see the status of all nine onboarding sections, but they can only open the content of sections a founder has shared with them. Vision & Leadership can never be shared with anyone, and Financials is confidential to your founding group unless a founder deliberately shares it.

What every teammate sees

Every member of your firm, whether they hold any sections or not, sees the same dashboard: all nine sections, their current status, and their completion percentage.

For a section they cannot open, teammates see it listed with a lock and a CONFIDENTIAL chip. They know it exists and roughly how far along it is, but they cannot see what is inside.

Note: Shared reference lists, like your Roles list and Document types list, are visible to any member. These are taxonomies used across the portal, not confidential content.

What counts as content, and who can open it

"Content" means the actual fields, answers, and files inside a section. A teammate can only open the content of a section once a founder shares it with them from the delegate panel. Sharing always grants both viewing and editing together; there is no way to give someone a look without also giving them write access, or the reverse.

The two confidential sections

Seven of the nine sections can be handed to any teammate. The remaining two are treated differently, and not in the same way as each other:

  • Vision & Leadership can never be shared, by anyone, under any circumstances. Each founder answers it privately, and founders cannot read each other's answers.

  • Financials is confidential to your founding group by default, meaning the owner and any co-founders. A founder can choose to share it with one team member, for example a bookkeeper or finance manager. It appears in the delegate panel badged CONFIDENTIAL.

Only a founder can share or unshare Financials. An admin who is not a founder can hand over the ordinary sections but never that one.

Tip: Inside Your Team, base salary and discretionary pay figures for each employee stay restricted, even though the rest of that section can be handed over.

Warning: Access to an ordinary section does not clean up on its own once granted. Financials is the exception: a founder can revoke it specifically at any time. For everything else, see How delegation and access actually work.
