Setting up your firm (for owners)

What happens when you first open the portal as the firm owner.

Short answer: As the owner, you create your firm, confirm a few details in a short wizard, then land on a dashboard with nine sections already created and ready to fill in or hand off.


What do owners do first?

When you sign in for the first time and your organisation does not exist yet, you land on the "Let's set up your firm" screen. It asks for two things:

  1. Company name, guessed from your email domain or the name you typed at sign-up.

  2. Company website, prefilled as https:// plus your domain.

Select "Create my firm". The button shows "Setting up…" while your organisation is created, and you're then taken straight into the entry wizard.

Note: Your email is read-only throughout onboarding. It's fixed to the Firebase account you signed in with, so there's nothing to type there.

The entry wizard

The wizard is a one-time, three-step flow. Once you finish it, it won't appear again, even if you sign in from another device.

  1. "First - is this you?", Confirm your full name, mobile number, company name and website, and answer "Currently seeing clients?". This toggle counts you into adviser capacity and book-analysis figures later on; it doesn't create a separate roster entry, it just relabels your one row as Founder or Founder & Adviser. Select "Looks right - continue".

  2. "Most of this doesn't have to be you.", A short explanation of delegation, so you know you can hand sections to teammates instead of doing everything yourself. Select "Let's do it".

  3. "Connect your financials", The Xero connect card. Select "Continue to your dashboard" when you're ready (you can also connect Xero later from the Financials section).

Tip: You don't have to connect Xero during the wizard. It's the same connect card either way, so you can skip ahead and come back to it from the Financials section whenever suits.

How do the sections get created?

The nine sections (Financials, Products and Services, Your Team, Systems & Tech, Client Journey, Team Rhythm, Team Development, Optics & Finance, and Vision & Leadership) are seeded automatically when your portal loads, not by the wizard itself. Every section starts at Not started, and they all appear on your dashboard straight away so you can see the full shape of what's ahead.

Financials and Vision & Leadership are pinned as owner-only sections; they can never be delegated to a teammate. The other seven can be handed to teammates from the delegate panel whenever you're ready.
